A very attractive original Victorian double cased photograph set, comprising two portrait photographs housed in a black embossed thermoplastic ("union") case with original gilt brass mats and velvet lining.
The left portrait depicts a Victorian woman holding a young child, with delicate hand-tinting to the child's bonnet and clothing. The right portrait shows a well-dressed gentleman sporting impressive mutton-chop sideburns, seated with a watch chain across his waistcoat. Together they almost certainly represent members of the same family.
The ornate embossed union case features a floral basket design to the exterior and retains its original clasp, gilt mats and burgundy velvet liners. These cased photographs remain highly collectible as intimate examples of early Victorian portrait photography.
